THOUGHTS:
Lilith's Cross Edge yukata contains everything I love in a costume- lace, bats, and the color pink! This costume was originally intended for the 2012 DC Cherry Blossom Festival but due to running out of fabric I was not able to finish it in time, and instead wore a modified version. I later completed the outfit and wore it for a photoshoot.

CONSTRUCTION:
-For the headdress I pulled a long-stemmed craft flower off the stem and sewed an alligator clip and bobby pin to the back. Faux pearls were sewn in the middle of the flower. Using simple sewing thread I added the loop of faux pearls and rose-pink plastic crystal beads.
-The obi base was made using stiff felt sandwiched in-between layers of cotton. There are no back reference images of the obi and it appeared to be a bit more form-fitting than a traditional one, so I hammered in eyelets so that it laces up the back. The rose is another long-stemmed craft flower that I pulled apart and hand-sewed on. I also sewed on some faux pearls for decoration.
-Yukata was fully made and lined in pink cotton. Some parts of the lining were a different shade of pink but thankfully that is not noticeable. All of the bats were hand drawn and painted with acrylic paint mixed with textile medium. Lace was sewn to the collar to complete the look.
